A successful second year, enthusiastic crews, happy partners. The proverbial bar of the Wallachian Hundredth Rally went up unexpectedly fast and the organizing team faced a challenge for the upcoming continuation. Unfortunately, events in the second half of last year brought a number of changes that significantly affected the planned continuation of the Moravian Wallachia Classic. This Wednesday, the final decision was made to postpone the third edition of the MWC.
There were several reasons. During the fall of last year, it was already clear that budgeting would be a key issue for the upcoming year. Paradoxically, it turned out that finances, despite the economic turmoil, might not be the main issue.
With the confidence of the main partners
We are pleased that our main partners Kayaku Safety Systems Europe a.s. and TATRA TRUCKS a.s. continue to stand behind us. On the other hand, the past two years, successful as they have been, have uncovered a number of opportunities for improvement and development of the cooperation that has begun. It is quite understandable that the sponsors have made suggestions for the most effective use of the financial support provided. In practice, this means reviewing the MWC concept and finding win-win solutions. This entails increased demands on time and preparation.
This year’s situation has been complicated to some extent by the municipal elections. Many municipalities in Wallachia and surrounding regions changed leadership after the elections. Vsetín, the centre of the MWC, was not excluded. We have already taken the first steps in this direction. Dealing with permits, negotiations with mayors and dealing with the involvement of municipalities in the MWC programme should be facilitated in the future by deepening cooperation with Jaromír Tomaštík’s organizational team.
Rather than half throttle, we prefer to postpone the event
The first edition of the MWC was organized in the covid times, when the economy was operating in a limited mode and the circumstances provided generous time for the preparation of the rally. The opposite was true for the events of the second half of last year, when unexpected influences led to an increase in demand for our agency’s creative and marketing services. Hosting the MWC is a year-long project with large financial, time and staffing demands. Although last year we were able to allocate enough time to prepare for the second edition, this year we were unable to secure adequate space.
To build on the success of last year’s MWC, we cannot compromise. Doing a mediocre event at any cost just to avoid breaking the streak is not in line with our intention. That is why, also after consultation with our partners, we have taken the decision to postpone the third edition for a year.
In June and in Wallachia?
The postponement gives the MWC organizing team the necessary time. It is not yet clear to what extent and in what form the changes will take place. There are several scenarios. What should not change is the June date and the rally centre in Wallachia. The following months will show whether the timeout can be used appropriately to develop the Wallachian centenary rally. Keep your fingers crossed.
